Front Door Agency Receives $25,000 Grant for COVID-19 Relief
The Front Door Agency received a $25,000 grant from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation to provide COVID-19 relief to the Greater Nashua community. The funds will be used to help individuals and families in our community with rental assistance/eviction prevention; emergency housing and affordable housing; foreclosure prevention; and food security.
During the early days and weeks of the pandemic, Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation began to lend its support as quickly as possible, and it has steadily increased throughout 2020 the amount of unsolicited grants to nonprofit organizations. In total, $11 million in COVID-19 relief grants has been provided to hundreds of local and regional organizations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island in 2020.
The most recent funding supports organizations focused on housing stability, homelessness, food security, and essential services and utilities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
The Front Door is proud to serve those who need it most in Greater Nashua, during the current pandemic and beyond.
Eric is one Front Door Agency clients whose family has been impacted by the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. His family received assistance through this year’s Holiday Program for the first time because of it.
A father of four, Eric lost his restaurant job this summer because of the pandemic. His wife, who is a nurse working with COVID-19 patients, had to take time off from work shortly after when the entire family contracted the virus. Thankfully, they are all healthy now, but struggling to make ends meet on one income.
“When we were both working, we were keeping up with our bills just fine, but it’s a lot harder now,” said Eric. “We’re just trying to make it work and hold it all together until I get back to work.”
