Break the Cycle
In addition to affordable housing options, the Front Door Agency’s Transformational Housing program provides an array of support services to help single mothers recover from homelessness and work toward independence.
Case Management
Case management provides a wide range of programs and services to help participants in our Transformational Housing Program develop successful tools that lead to economic and emotional independence and self-sufficiency and help break the cycle of poverty. Every family that enters the Transformational Housing program needs different supports, and personalized case management helps families overcome the root of their homelessness.
Life Skills Training
We recognize that helping a family down the path to self-sufficiency and maintaining housing stability often takes more than simply providing housing. Life skills are crucial tools that enable participants to become empowered. Developing these skills as part of a larger goal of self-improvement and understanding, individuals are able to break the cycle of poverty.
Families in Transformational Housing are offered programming in the following areas:
- Intensive case management to increase skills and confidence in the areas of; time management, budgeting, health and wellness, mental health, educational goals, employment, pride in home and financial stability.
- Individual and group therapy opportunities for crisis support, stress management, coping skills and self-awareness skills to enhance individual growth.
- Workshops and social opportunities
- Parenting groups and individual parenting supports for those who need help coping and disciplining their children in an effort to provide positive interactions and reinforcements.
- Financial literacy to help rebuild credit, pay debt and begin the process of saving toward independence.
Financial Literacy
We offer free financial literacy programs to any interested client, not just the women in our Transformational Housing program. We believe that everyone needs to understand how to manage money in order to achieve financial independence. We provide basic financial education through a series of weekly workshops offered twice per year, in the fall and in the spring.
The Financial Literacy program typically runs for seven consecutive Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Nashua. FREE child care is available. To register, please call us at (603) 886-2866. Participants can receive 8 Continuing Education Credits.
Participants learn the basics about:
- Basic Banking
- Budgeting & Money Management
- Credit & Credit Cards
- Credit Reports & Loans
- Identity Theft
- Home Buying & Ownership
- Resumes & Interviewing
After completing the program participants:
- Understand how to manage money by tracking and analyzing their current spending and will learn how to prepare a spending plan.
- Understand available banking services and how credit unions and banks can actually help support your financial goals.
- Understand the purpose and importance of saving, setting goals, and learn easy ways to start saving even with little income.
- Understand how credit works, how it impacts your life, types of credit available, and how to rebuild a poor credit rating.
- Learn about various types of community resources that can help you during financial difficulties or can help you reach your saving goals faster.
