Transitional Program Guidelines
Take the First Steps on the Path to Self-Sufficiency
If you are a single mother getting by day to day; not moving forward; and finding yourself falling back into the same bad patterns, consider trying something new and changing your life for good. If you are motivated to make a permanent life change, then the Front Door Agency’s Transitional Housing Program is for you!
As a general guideline, the program serves:
- Motivated single mothers between the ages of 18 – 35 with children ages 12 or younger, or who are pregnant; and who have the desire and ability to participate in an educational program. (GED, college, job skill training).
- For women in recovery a minimum of six-months of sobriety is necessary. For those receiving social security or plan on applying for long-term disability (SSI or SSDI) a desire and ability to continue with higher education and secure employment in the future is a must.
- Step one is making the call and determining if you are eligible. You can apply by calling (603) 886-2866 to request an application or click here for the application.
How the Program Works
This program is designed to provide affordable housing and educational opportunities for single mothers dedicated to fulfilling their aspirations and dreams through higher learning. The program is designed into 3 phases, each helping you to progressively work towards achieving financial independence.
In Phase I you will join other families in a safe, cooperative living environment, who are also taking the first steps towards independence.
“I didn’t know that here in Nashua there were programs to help homeless single mothers. Moving into Phase I was something I had never experienced before and it was a breaking point in my life.”
Upon reaching your first few milestones, Phase II becomes an option where you begin the next phase of independence with your own apartment.
Phase III becomes available upon completion of your educational/job skills training program and provides continued affordable housing and support services.
The Front Door Agency provides the tools and direction to help you realize your dreams, but you must be willing to do the work. Take that first step and let us help you transform your life!
