What is Planned Giving?
Planned giving can be a powerful way to affirm your values and priorities and leave a lasting legacy. It can be as simple as altering your will or changing the beneficiary on your IRA or life insurance policy. You do not need to be wealthy to be a philanthropist — even a modest gift impacts a life!
Your gift to the Front Door Agency will ensure families are given access to safe, affordable housing while they rebuild their lives through higher education and life skills training. A charitable gift to the Agency provides a helping hand to each family as they stabilize, transform and flourish into independence and self-sufficiency.
“My husband Dave and I support the Front Door Agency’s Legacy Program because we are confident that our contributions will help hundreds of kids for future generations to live out of poverty.” — Erin
Planned Giving Creates Tax Incentives
Many planned giving options offer tax advantages to you at the same time that they benefit the disadvantaged in our community. We are happy to speak with you at any time about your many options. Please call us at 603.886.2866.
- A Gift through Life Insurance
You can name the Front Door Agency as the beneficiary on a life insurance policy. You can also purchase an insurance policy in the name of the Front Door Agency or transfer a current policy. The cash value of that gift is tax deductible, as are any future premiums you pay on the policy.
- Retirement Funds
An asset, whether it is a company retirement plan or a private fund such as an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) that is taxable to your heirs at ordinary rates, may be passed to the Front Door Agency tax-free.
- A Gift of Securities
You can donate public securities instead of cash, saving any tax that would be payable at the time of sale.
- Memorial Gifts
You may decide to designate the Front Door Agency as one of your “charities of choice” when making donations in memory of a loved one.
- Gifts of Money or Property
You can designate in your will to give the Agency a sum of money or percentage of your estate. You may also make a gift of real estate, jewelry, art work or equipment.
- Gifts Through Trusts
A Charitable Remainder Trust is one option to donate property to the Agency, providing a lifetime fixed income and an income tax deduction to you. A Charitable Lead Trust provides income for charitable purposes for a designated period of time — typically 5, 10, 15 or 20 years.

The Front Door embarked on the “Securing the Future” Endowment Campaign in 2003 in an effort to ensure the stability and future of the agency. The Front Door enlisted the services of a consultant to conduct a feasibility study and develop a plan to implement a $500,000 endowment campaign.
The campaign began in the fall of 2003 with one hundred percent participation from the Front Door’s Board of Directors. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of individuals and businesses in the Greater Nashua area, our goal was successfully met in the fall of 2006.
This endowment fund set the stage for the next step in securing our future . . . Planned Giving.
